Review on Sunlite 100W MV100/DX/MOG H38 Mercury Vapor Lamp, Mogul Base (E39), ED23, 8000 Hour Life, 4200 Lumen, Coated White Finish - 1 Count (Pack of 1) by Dion Madison

I have a large lamp over the driveway that uses these bulbs. It's about 25 feet tall so while I was fixing the roof and clearing the scaffolding I decided to replace the old one as I didn't know how long it would last (only bought the house 2 years ago). I bought this lamp from Revain, it arrived on time and is as described. Installed the light and about 3 weeks later after very little use I found glass in my driveway. Looking up, I discovered that the glass around the lightbulb was somehow broken. The lamp has a protective cover that can only be opened from below, so it is unlikely that something has fallen inside. The strange thing is that the lightbulb was still working! Still, I had to pull out a large ladder and put the old lightbulb back in place. It was very difficult to get this broken bulb out of its socket from a height of 25 feet. The old bulb has been running for at least 6 months since then, so I can only conclude that this bulb is junk.
