We bought a medium size for our 11 pound toy poodle. It measures about 12 inches from neck to butt so would probably fit a size small better. The hat band was a little loose from ordering a size too big, but I slightly shortened the elastic band (using scissors and hand sewing) as I didn't think it was worth altering. The body of the gourd is actually quite large, so it has enough space for a larger dog, but also easily fits slim dogs. We were very impressed with the quality of the suit. The fabric is very nice, the costume comes with a lining and a very nice velcro closure. We can end up buying some "filling" and glue it between the outer fabric and the lining to make it more rounded, but I think the costume is great the way it is! I can't wait for him to wear it for Halloween!
