Review on HOLDWELL Shutoff Solenoid Cummins Pickup by Ryan Richards

Revainrating 5 out of 5

First, let's start like this.

Let's start off like this. So, I'm investigating solenoid problems on a '97 Cummins 12 valve. Basically everything I found said they almost never fail. Either they get dirty or the relay fails. I started having problems with the traction chain. Holds up well but does not retract. So I decided to slam the relay first. The problem was fixed immediately. Do this before you buy a solenoid. Solenoids are very expensive, and cheap ones are just that. CHEAP. 9 times out of 10 your magnet is fine and you have other problems. This is the cheapest way to try to keep going. I personally tested the output of the relay while someone turned the key to start and found that the problem was with the relay (the pull wire is energized when the key engages the starter, but the hold wire is only energized when when the key is inserted). "On" position. No ). problem needs to be explained). Hope that helps. The product worked great and shipping with Prime was great. If you read horrible reviews and buy a new solenoid and it doesn't work or fails shortly after installation, chances are the real problem of a bad relay is never diagnosed. Again, if you have a factory solenoid, it's probably still good. A simple test to check this. Check the retaining wire on the solenoid. Much luck.

Pros

Cons
