Works great. Various size burners are ideal for any size pots and pans. It's handy to have big burners in front as I use them more often. With small burners on the back, I can keep the original food I cooked warm while using the front panel to cook another item. If the burners were reversed, I would have to either reach for the heat accumulators on the small front burners to use the larger rear burners, or be content with just using the smaller burner while I would keep items warm below.
