I used these cable ties to fix the original cracked and falling apart tie rods on a set of heavy 6ft mini blinds to replace. Each curtain is pulled with a thick cord to control the raising, lowering, opening and closing of the mini blinds. Each mini blind has 4 thick cords running through the top pull hole. So I had to make sure the cord that pulls the top hole was wide enough for a string to pass through. The Dritz #44350 cable tensioners fit very well and it took about a minute to tighten the cable. Thick 4 strand cord fits easily through a large diameter hole, I just tied the cords in the pull knot. Nothing special. They work perfectly and I am very happy with them. Each rod is made from a heavier/thicker material-like plastic than what originally came with my blinds. I measured the tension on the cord to be 1-3/4 inches long from top to bottom of the pull and 3/4 OD (outside diameter) of the hole at the bottom of the pull in inches. The inner diameter of the bottom connection hole is 5/8" and the inner diameter of the top hole is 3/16". This was enough to run 4 thick strings through the hole. I hope this helped.
