I bought this hoping to get rid of the knife holder and dish bin. It does a great job of lifting the knives up and out of the way, but that's about it. You can't use hooks and safely place knives on magnetic strips, you have to choose. If you try to use the hooks, the knives will become unstable and fall down, which is a real danger. That being said, if you use it without a hook, you're fine. I think they could improve the design by using a stronger magnet and wider blade band and also allow you to use hooks. My service and maintenance technician put this up for me, he loved it and ordered the same for his wife.
