Haven't taken it outside yet but didn't taste like plastic the first time after rinsing with water. The hose is easy to connect to the bag. The magnetic clip can only be attached to a thin (not soft) backpack strap. Bite valve with lid is handy. Easily slides out and fills with water, then folds back to prevent leakage.
