nice alternative to other smart bulbs- update on longevity- disappointing

I used to have a smart bulb outside our front door, but it decided to stop working one day, and I couldn't re-connect it to our WiFi network for some reason. Smart bulbs can also sometimes be troubled by power outages, losing functionality sometimes when the power comes back on. The dusk to dawn bulb is a no-brainer, you treat it like any other dumb bulb and just leave the light switch on. Our front light is under an overhang and in a wall fixture, but it does a reasonable job of detecting dusk and dawn with appropriate off and on actions. There's some variation (weather, I assume), but it seems to error on the conservative side, staying on, rather than off. I can't comment on the longevity, so we'll see, fingers crossed. Longevity update: installed Dec. 6, 2021, stopped working Oct 6, 2022, so 10 months. If you calculate 10 months x 30 days x 12hr/day = 3,600 hours. If the light bulb was on 24hr/day, then it'd be 7,200 hours, while the box stated 15,000 hours. So, it lasts considerably less than what Ameritop claims. Don't know how to tell if the bulb is at fault, or the sensor. 10 months, with a 3 year warranty, but will need to figure out how that works.

Pros
  • They work as described with lots of light. Its only been a few months so I don't know about longevity
Cons
  • Some users may prefer a warmer color temperature
