I find it handy to have a matching tape measure (preferably with a lid!) in my garage for every large tool, of course I could carry it mine, but sometimes I just need to walk over to the instrument and do a quick task, and it's great to have a tape measure handy at the same time. I use screws to attach to wooden studs or double sided tape to attach to metal/plastic. They are flexible and easy to store away and remove the tape measure. The pencil sharpener is really a joke, it's not good for sharpening a plain pencil, but it's good for storing pencils!
