Disappointed: Trunks

I was really looking forward to this; This is the only collapsible bike rack I've seen online. Unfortunately, installing this thing was a blood sucking nightmare compared to any other rack I've ever installed. The first bike (hybrid with disc brakes) I tried it on didn't fit at all. The lower stay slots are not wide enough to accommodate the rear wheel. The second bike I tried it on (a mountain bike with stock brakes) barely fit. I ended up having to take this to a bike shop where the mechanic had to replace the two included arms that attach to the seatpost as well as another ring that attaches the seatpost to the seat tube, one with threaded holes. Most of the included screws were too short (other reviewers also mentioned this). Between materials and labor I paid $30 on top of the shelf price. It has become a VERY expensive item. My mechanic absolutely hated this thing. His assessment was that it's not made of very high quality materials and I shouldn't expect it to last very long. This might be a bit pessimistic as it seems pretty stable, but I take it seriously; he knows his stuff. The four letter word he used to describe it is something I probably shouldn't share. you have the idea The only reason, I mean the ONLY reason I didn't return this item was because the foldable design is unlike anything I can find anywhere else. As far as I can tell, this is the only rack constructed this way. If given a choice between an up-and-coming brand, I would probably choose a different one; I can't think of anything worse. I absolutely do not recommend this to anyone.

Pros
  • Handsfree
Cons
