Review on Efficiently Construct with the IRWIN Tools I Beam 48 Inch 1801094 by Mike Marks

Revainrating 5 out of 5

QUALITY level made from blunt materials

I have bought the 6" and 18" versions of this level. I can't speak for a shorter one because I haven't used it often enough, but oh my gosh, 6ft is AMAZING! I'm a carpenter and I frame, but mostly I finish the job. If you work with me and laugh to yourself as you read, I don't blame you. I would have thought that a $30 six foot level should cost ten times what it saves due to its inaccuracy, but this thing is the THIRD NUT - at least the ones I got. You need to check and make sure your spirit level is properly calibrated (find a spirit level and a vertical surface, check it, flip the spirit level and check again - if the bubble points the same both ways, you're done. If not Don't read the same, return POS and write negative feedback and demand that they make them like they made when I bought it (You can also test this with another level from which You know it's true and true when you want to get all anal about it}) This level is easy! That makes it a pleasure to work with. My theory is that it makes it incredibly stable when dropped Because it's very light, the force it generates when it hits the ground doesn't affect bladder displacement as much as a heavier level, and a hard fall won't hurt your heart either It hurts so much knowing that at the end of the day you spent $30 on it, not the $200 you spent on that Stabila. and the worst part of this level. This can be remotely useful in some esoteric, one-off level calculations. But please, colleagues, I suggest you do at least a second level. Use it as a frame for a while. You will slowly grow fond of it. You will see that you "accidentally" grabbed it for the kitchen you are making. Suddenly it will take the best spot in your truck or van and your Empire or Stabila when they finally screw up the bed will not be replaced because you will know that when you drop it from the third floor roof Either it is in Fine, or you'll have another one shipped straight to your door in a few days for a quarter of the price a "real carpenter" would pay for a new level. Update: After years of use, the bubble level on my 6' has shifted. It still reads like lead so it's meant for me to work with tiles. I treated it with utter disdain that I was not remotely disappointed in my purchase for 6'. I'm too disappointed with the angled dial to replace the level and have the stabilization I'm happy with, but if I were to trim again I'd get another of these to reduce site level damage and theft worries. The shorter version isn't true, so I suggest trying it.
