Review on Shark AZ1002 Self Cleaning Brushroll Upholstery by Ken Wilson

Broke after 3 months of normal use

I bought this product in November 2018. It's only early March 2019 and the piece that connects the roller is broken. This is a small black plastic connector that allows the roller to rotate. Since this was such a new purchase I called Shark to see if we could get a replacement connector part. I was told that they only guarantee the motor and that I would have to buy a new roller. The roller is functioning normally and does not need to be replaced. All I needed was to replace the little black connector on the roller. It was supposed to be a $5 max purchase, but no, I couldn't just buy this piece. I was told they don't sell it separately and that I would have to buy a brand new roller. It would cost me $89 to replace the roller and $20 for shipping. After taxes, the grand total is $111 with minor adjustments. It's funny and I told them about it. After some back and forth, they halved the cost and refused delivery. Then, after agreeing to the purchase, I was informed that the roller was on backorder for three to six weeks. This tells me that this is a general problem with this device. In order for the replacement to be requested, there is a delay of the order of three to six weeks. After this incident I will probably not buy another Shark device. Their warranty is not complete and they do not return replacements for defective hardware.

Pros
  • Excellent design
Cons
  • Good but not great
