I think it's now accepted that depending on your hair color and color, IPL can be an effective way to treat unwanted body hair. This is a relatively affordable IPL device that works as advertised. It has 5 power levels and the bulb is rated for more flashes than you could ever use. Here are my impressions of this device, not the effectiveness of IPL as a hair removal method. First, the build quality is decent. The device is lightweight but feels solid and comes in an attractive two-tone color scheme. The glossy black plastic attracts fingerprints. So if you have OCD, all you have to remember is to wipe it clean after use. The LCD shows a countdown timer for remaining flashes, power settings and when selected when in the 'Auto' setting. By the way, as far as I can tell, the automatic setting isn't quite what I expected. I thought it had a sensor that fires automatically once you move the sensor down the appropriate amount. Instead it's more like a timer, the flash will fire at regular intervals regardless of whether you move it. In fact, you can achieve the same result simply by holding down the flash button. The operation of the device is self-explanatory, BUT the manual does not describe in detail how to put this device in automatic mode. To do this, turn on the device and then press and hold the start button until the small triple diamond icon lights up. If you want to use it this way, you have to do it every time you turn on the device. In my experience it has no memory. So when you turn it on you need to set that up and check the power level 1-5 every time you use it. There is a proximity sensor that prevents this device from being triggered unless it touches your skin. This is a good feature to prevent accidental shutter release and glare. I agree with one of the previous reviews that the power connection on the side is not ideal. I think this unit would be easier to use and place if the power supply was plugged into the back of the unit. In addition, the length of the power extension cord can be a few meters longer. In general, this device is a good affordable IPL device for home use.
