This ruler's raised handle makes it much easier and more convenient to use than a regular flat ruler. The ruler is made of very light aluminum and is very easy to hold, move and use - it suits my needs perfectly. Because the ruler is not flat, there is no way to place a non-slip cork pad on the underside like a standard flat ruler. This makes drawing the ink lines a little more awkward as there is no room to separate the ruler from the ink line and it makes it easier for the ruler to slide across the paper. However, the raised grip allows for more even pressure on the ruler, compensating for the lack of cork on the bottom. Another important point is the length of the ruler. It is only available in 12"/35cm. I would also like the 18" length for those slightly longer projects. In general, there are few flaws, but a lot of pluses. I'm happy with my line and I think you'll like it too.
