I've been a fan of AirPods since they came out a few years ago. I've always loved them and never considered switching to another pair of headphones until my boyfriend tried the Back Bay Duet 50s. To sum up my thoughts, Back Bay wins in: battery life, sound quality, volume, fit, music controls, and sweating. - Apple's Resistance wins in the following categories: microphone quality, charger size, letting people know you spent $150 on headphones. SOUND QUALITY: The sound quality was the biggest difference I noticed when I first tried the Back Bay headphones. There's a lot more bass and the sound really pulls you in. After several hours of listening to music through the Back Bay headphones, my AirPods sounded muffled and muffled when I switched back to them. The Back Bay can also get about 20% louder, which is great for the gym or during my commute. BATTERY LIFE: At this price point, how can the Back Bay battery be so good? If you charge the case once, you can listen to music for 40 hours before you have to charge the case again. I listen to music all day long at work, and I assure you, you can work 8 hours straight without any problems. My AirPods can play music for 5-6 hours straight and the total listening time was only 24 hours with the charging case. FIT: Back Bay includes 5 sizes of ear tips so you can choose the size that suits you. I've never had problems with AirPods fit, but I think people with small or very large ears can't use AirPods well. The big benefit of the Back Bay earbuds is that they block out ambient noise much better than AirPods when using the large Back Bay earbuds. I've found that when I run with my headphones on, the rear compartments stay on better even though I'm sweating. MIC: AirPods win here. The back bay mic is great for phone calls, but because the AirPods mic is closer to your mouth, it picks up your voice better and clearer. If you get a lot of calls and need to spend $150, choose AirPods. If not, Back Bay is a good choice. CONTROL: The Back Bay headphones let you do it all. You can adjust volume, skip songs, pause/play. One of the main advantages of AirPods is that they automatically pause when you take off your headphones. One of the main downsides to AirPods is that you have to choose between double tapping to skip songs or adjust the volume - you can't have both! While I love the AirPods' auto-pause feature, I prefer the full control the back bay gives me. CHARGING CASE: The AirPods case is the smallest of them all and is great for stuffing in your pocket. It's like a small filament container. The Back Bay case has a nice tablet shape but is about 15% larger than the AirPods case. If you pay $170 for a fancy new AirPods charging case, you can charge it on the wireless charging pad, which is another AirPods perk. Both pairs of earbuds turn on automatically when you take them out of the case. So for a small price, the AirPods Duet 50 are a serious option for those who value sound quality and control and don't want to jump around. at the AirPods booth.
