I was blown away. After buying a new Garmin Montana 680T and this chip, I found that there is no way to export waypoints created on the computer to GPS using the Onxmaps web map! It is much easier to create waypoints on a much larger computer screen than on a tiny GPS screen, and a computer allows you to navigate the map much faster. I've been using Garmin Basecamp for years to create routes and waypoints and upload them to my bikes' GPS units. That works great. I wrongly assumed that Onxmaps would have a similar functionality. I contacted them and they assured me that this would happen soon. When I create a waypoint on my computer it shows up in the app on my phone almost immediately, but there is now an easy way to transfer it to the GPS. The only real way is to write down the waypoint coordinates on the computer and generate the waypoint on the GPS, which is quite difficult. Until it is possible to send/download waypoints to GPS I would not recommend buying this chip. Pay for the phone app and use it on your phone or tablet to create waypoints or routes on your computer and transfer them to your device. UPDATE: Wow, are you talking about the time! The great guys at Onxmaps just today added the ability to export GPX files from their excellent web maps and save them to your computer for GPS export. NOW it is VERY worth having. Placing waypoints on a big computer screen is easy, and now it's easy to export those waypoints to GPS too. BRAVO Onxmaps!
