I bought this because (a) I'm from New England and I love birch trees - actually I've been looking for a way to incorporate them into my home decor for the past 6 months and (b) I have Christmas ornaments, the my grandma made for me and prom tassels which are very important to me and I wanted to show them off at home. This little tree fits perfectly on my dresser and was easy to "branch out" (sorry for the pun) when I got it in the mail. I simply expanded it to a realistic branch format and was able to hang each of the elements needed. A few tips: - I wouldn't put anything heavier than a ladies watch on these branches - you can bend the branches slightly to create perfect little curves. for catching items - I could easily imagine buying one of these to hang bracelets in my bedroom or even shorter necklaces - a small forest of these would be an elegant addition to a party or event decoration - I could imagine using them seasonally for Halloween vs Christmas or even string crystals and ribbons to decorate a cake/gift table at a wedding
