Review on StarTech.com USB C to Ethernet Adapter with Power Delivery and 3 Ports - Power Pass Through Charging - Black (US1GC303APD) by Monty Barganier

My review is for a single ethernet port power pass-through model. a Dell XPS laptop that only connects to USB-C/Tunderbolt 3 ports. I have a HooToo brand shuttle that has USB, HDMI, Ethernet and power pass-through in one device. The problem with HooToo is that when I try to use it to transfer power, the laptop loses power by 5 watts and I get a warning that I've connected an underpowered power supply. In addition, the included Ethernet was not recognized by the laptop. So I ordered this Startech to see if it works with all of these devices or if it's just an issue with the HooToo brand. Turns out this Startech adapter works great. The ethernet was recognized immediately and the power transmission generated no warnings or errors. Charges the laptop normally. It even works with USB-C ports that aren't specifically labeled for power delivery, so that was a bonus. Also, I really like that this adapter has status lights on the Ethernet port, as this can sometimes be useful when connecting to networks outside the home to make sure you at least have a connection. I can still use Hootoo for HDMI and additional USB ports, but this Startech was a great addition, giving me Ethernet and power from a single USB-C port. Some of the things I do require me to use other USB ports for other peripherals, but I still need ethernet and power. While Startech accessories are sometimes more expensive than various other brands like hootoo, they're usually cheaper than big brands like Dell, Lenovo, and HP while still offering the same level of reliability.
