Before doing this review, let me say I was NOT expecting Makita quality at this price point. But I've been in the woodworking business for 40 years and I know the difference between a cheaper tool that's worth the price difference and a cheap tool that costs nothing. I needed something quick to do some editing and this router arrived the next day. so i decided to give it a try. Please keep this in mind while reading this review: 1) The box it came in was obviously opened like a used product. 2) The instructions were terrible. VERY broken English 3) It says it's rated for 7A and 30,000 RPM. NO! My router, mounted on my router table, is only rated at 23,000 RPM, and this thing doesn't even come close to that speed! 3) Literally after 3 minutes of light use it struggled and got so hot I couldn't hold it. I turned it off to let it cool down. After restarting, there was a roar of its own. 4) Quality Control Issue #1: The racquet he made was because the brush caps were set so loose at the factory that they fell out so wide they almost fell out. This did not hold the brushes firmly against the armature and wobbled back and forth, damaging them and the armature. and caused a rumble that I heard. 5) Quality Control Issue #2: The base was also loosened enough at the factory that it came loose and caught the bat. 6) It was easy to see that if I could use it for any length of time, the cheap plastic ears were used to tighten the base on the router itself. after a while they would weaken and break. Again, I wasn't expecting Makita quality, but I didn't have to test everything on a brand new tool to make sure the folks at the factory were doing their job. This router has no power, isn't as fast as advertised, is poorly made, and isn't even worth its low price. I wouldn't recommend it even to a beginner. I learned my lesson, take it back and buy a Makita
