Update: I've downgraded my rating from five stars to four stars - I can't use the scheduled cleaning feature with Roomba because it's stuck or cannot return to base every time. So we have to use Roomba while someone is here for the inevitable rescue. ______________________________________ I doubted Roomba. It seemed ridiculous, expensive and useless. So when I was offered the use of one of these things, I jumped at it - basically to prove my theory that they weren't needed. Also, my cat absolutely hated him from the start, hissing, sulking and generally running around in a state of terror. Never foreseen. Thanks to my daughters, our Roomba even has a name now - Emily. The cat was also submissive - coming from her roost to follow Emily through her cleaning cycle. Fun for lazy house cats. Apparently an unadvertised bonus? This is how we fell in love: - Don't ask me if Roomba has a template, it seems pretty drunk to me, but this madness has a system, because it really ends up in all rooms and at some point a lot of garbage accumulates on the floor (before Roomba we thought we were good housekeepers - apparently not). - She's smart - she has built-in sensors so she won't bump into walls or fall down stairs. She slows down when she feels she's approaching something she might collide with. The Roomba phone app is awesome, you can set a cleaning schedule and do a lot of other cool things from your phone. This Roomba was specially developed for pet hair. in the head. Judging by the photos, she wins a lot. That was after we recently vacuumed. It holds a decent charge - well over an hour and a half before needing a recharge. Here are some lessons she learned: She is a big fan of Barbie hair and sucks on every doll's hair. on the floor, which usually results in Barbie's haircut to get her out of the robot vacuum's mouth. The same goes for cords for mini blinds, My Pretty Pony, etc - if you pick up and move Roomba during a cleaning cycle, it won't find the base when you press the dock button unless it's facing towards the house. Base within 1.8 m (6 ft) of home base. Of all the things she's soaked up over the past few weeks, I can't thank her enough.
