TLDR: good for learning. Remember that your sofa has four sides. You only get two defenders. Obviously, it is almost impossible to stop a cat from doing what it naturally wants/should do. Our cat basically just scratched the corner of our couch for some reason, despite all the other scratching posts we gave him. We received this product and while we don't like it when our furniture looks like plastic, it works great. Our cat tried it once or twice before realizing he couldn't scratch there anymore. We need to buy more for the sofa back.
