All four scissors in this batch are very sharp and cut yarn and thread with ease (so far we've tried them on mercerized cotton, worsted acrylic yarn, etc. cotton thread) . I was concerned by some negative reviews that the blades were dull, but they aren't. Plus, they fit my left-handed man just as well as my right-handed man. I highly recommend them! Update - I finally understand why some reviewers are calling these blades "blunt". The blades have a very tight spring and can fail. When your knife stops cutting, look at the blades - if the side of the bezel (sharpened) is covered by another blade, it has come loose. Gently slide the bezel side over the other blade (or slide the non-bezel side under the bezel side blade) and you're good to go.
