My second round of this
I almost ran out of my first bottle and it took a while at first to finish it. Once you've trimmed your beard, you can use very little of it. I haven't trimmed my beard in over a year and it's long and difficult to maintain. I use this after shower to detangle. But you need a full syringe. It's probably not what he wanted to do, but it does soften the beard. And you can't smell it unless you put your nose in. (Well, I am) The price here is a dollar more than what I can buy at my local hardware store. Long story short, I'll keep at it until I find something better, but I'm not really looking either.
