I bought this printer to replace an HP all-in-one that had a dead printhead. I have always used HP printers and decided to try something different as I was tired of HP inks constantly drying out. I researched extensively about printers and settled on the Epson WF-4740. I've had him for about 2 years now. I hate this printer. Every time I use it there is a problem, big or small. First, mascara is insanely expensive. But I almost don't care because it looks like it's going to take quite a long time. That's the only good thing about this printer; Ink lasts much longer than my experience with HP printers. My biggest concern is that something is wrong with the feed. It's constantly picking up more than one sheet of paper at a time, so it ends up printing on multiple pages and you have to print again until it's right. I used paper of different thicknesses and qualities. I did some wheel alignment tests. It does not matter. About half the time I have to reprint because multiple sheets are being wound/fed at the same time. It's such a waste and a headache. Another thing is that it hurts to scan to a computer. It's not impossible, but I feel like if my computer is on, I should just press a button on the printer and it will scan. It's almost never that easy. I usually have to switch between the computer and printer for the scan to work. It shouldn't be that hard. Print quality is ok, nothing special. When a paper jam occurs, it is fairly easy to fix. But in general I would like to buy something else. Every time I have to interact with him, it takes too much of my sanity. The only reason I haven't replaced it yet is that it and the ink are so expensive that I feel I need to have it a little longer before I can justify buying a new printer. If I decide to retire this printer, it will likely come out in the Office Space style.
