I didn't like this chain and sent it back because of the smell. It had a sharp and strange odor, like motor oil or old grease. If you've ever hung around a machine shop, you know what that industrial smell is. When handling the coil, the odor was transferred to hands, clothing, and work surface, leading me to believe that this was some sort of "sticky" particle that would only go away with detergent or degreaser; however, this seemed too time consuming, so I figured it would be better to just return it and find another chain for my needs.
