Cup holder breaks easily

I bought these to use in my mason jar oil lamps. The lamps turned out beautifully, but until I brought them (very carefully) to the event I persuaded them to. Some coasters were broken. Oil dripped from the unbroken lanterns onto the jar lid. They could not be used or given away.
