There aren't many places where you can keep your phone in place and visible while driving in your new JL. The phone slot in the center console between the cup holders isn't a good design idea. spills. This is a good solution to this problem. I'm not a fan of those vents so I ordered this one. The installation took 5 minutes, in my Sahara. I took a test drive on a bumpy country road and the phone stayed put. I didn't take it with me so I'm not sure how well this holder will hold the phone in place. My iPhone Xs Max fits the grip well. Also, my sunglasses fit in the side storage compartments so I don't have to find another place to store them. The only wish is that the holding arm is adjustable, with up and down movement. Being able to lower the position of the phone would be great as the phone sits high. It obscures part of your view out the window. For the price, I think it should have come with a rubber gasket in the compartments to cover the screws, like the gasket that came with the original JL compartment. Update 10/20/2018: The rubber in the clamp has torn. clamp. I ended up buying an inexpensive iOttie and used this stand instead. Luckily the ball joint is one size and the iOttie clamp worked. The only problem I have now is that the new clamp sits even higher and I turned my iPhone Xs Max horizontally so it doesn't hit the windshield.
