Review on Improved Reducing Standard with Brita Filtration Reminder by Eric Temple

Filter is a bad buy

This filtration system is a piece of junk. I should have listened to the reviewers who posted. After 2 months I finally gave up and removed this filter (or it removed itself). It worked as advertised for a month but then fell off the faucet. Just after 1 month my wife said to get rid of it and get a good filter. Judging by the numerous reviews, very few have had success with this product. It's a good concept for a cheap chlorine flavor filter solution, but it won't stay the same. The design requires a more convenient attachment over the top of the faucet. I spent $22.55 for the system and $22.67 for two additional filters. I recommend purchasing an under counter filter system. For $89.95 I just installed an APEC WATER (CS-2500) directly into the cold water line. This filter is rated for 15,000 hours and comes with 3/8 compression fittings and two 24" hoses with compression fittings. The installation went smoothly and the flow is much higher than through a Brita that just drips. And over time, an APEC replacement filter only costs $59.95 compared to about $11 for Brita filters, which only last about 600 hours. So you can do the math and see that it's better to pay more upfront and have a happy wife.

Pros
  • Delicious water without waste; When you switch to Brita you save money and replace 1800 disposable water bottles a year
Cons
  • Only available in black
