bought these for my daughter to wear in the shower while away at college. you never know what vehicle of death may lurk in a shared bath, so I felt this was one way to protect her from unforeseen dark forces. you put them on your feet. your toes are exposed to whatever nastiness is present but she wanted something that was easy to slide in and out of. they're cheap so no one cares about longevity. they only need to be good for one semester. i just had to check this box off of her very long list of things she has charged me with providing. i do this happily, as I do not wish to upset the child. you will do the same if you know what's good for you. good luck.
