I bought it to load things for getting around the country and also to attach a kayak. The kayak fits in the back of my truck (2017 F250 8ft platform) but I needed room to carry it. I attached wood paneling to elevate the body walls. It had a few extra bonus features - a bit more privacy as the sides were now higher and I could stack the cargo higher - which was my main reason, and then I attached cargo hooks so I had extra brackets for my cargo net. . (Handle straps and luggage net were purchased from Amazon. As for the rack itself, I like it. As for the rack hardware - I drilled the brackets where you mount the top racks to the main vertical bars and I also drilled through the Drilled crossbars that you stand on top of my kayak The included hardware seems adequate but after 2000 miles I didn't want to risk or worry about anything coming loose so I added bolts I also added lock washers and a plain washer to each The way the truck tracks were designed on this F250, I couldn't get the bolts further out on the bed than the photo shows as the inner metal of the bed is still holding up well - I plan to keeping them indefinitely... but it was easier with a few extra hands.. Overall I'm sooooo happy with this rack An idea! :) I would recommend it to jed buy it again!
