First, those who say you don't need a stand for the PS3 Slim are probably not the proud owners of a broken PS3 Slim today. A Slim can stand alone on its side, but a Quarter can if you're very careful. If you are laying your PS3 Slim on its side, I recommend the stand. This stand doesn't allow for any fixation of the PS3 other than friction, but it keeps my PS3 Slim on its side when I bump into it. Table. I tested this product by shaking the table my PS3 Slim was standing on with and without this stand. Without the stand, the PS3 Slim wobbled in the bottom corners and would definitely fall over if I didn't reach out and grab it. With the stand, the PS3 didn't rock and stayed in place. The Achilles tendon of this product is that if you apply force to the side engraved with the PS3 logo, the PS3 Slim will fall down as if it has no footing. However, if something were to hit that part of the PS3, it would likely be something powerful enough to mess up the system anyway. I recommend this stand for the price, especially if you don't want to shell out for an official Sony one. Stand. This protects your system from shocks. Preferably without a stand.
