In the past I have learned from my professional life that my fingerprints are extremely superficial and difficult to process in automated professional systems. Consequently, I had never tried retail fingerprint technology before, thinking it would not work reliably for me. (And in case you're wondering, no, I haven't even tried the fingerprint reader on my phone.) So I was glad that this encrypted 64GB thumb drive with fingerprint reader actually worked with my fingers to some degree. . In fact, I considered giving it four stars instead of three, but decided it was too volatile to merit the enthusiasm of a four-star rating. If I allowed partial ratings I would give this product 3.5 stars. The user manual seems to imply that you can only enroll one fingerprint with an admin account, but I managed to enroll four (two fingers on both hands) on my device. Revolution. And if your computer setup is like my cluttered computer desk, multiple finger registration on both hands is a must. The USB ports on three of my PCs are in crowded areas and in different orientations. I'm lucky enough to even have an accessible port on any computer with enough free space to fit one of my hands and one of my fingers in the right position for a fingerprint reader. So having multiple choices (hands, fingers) is a must. In my testing, the fingerprint reader didn't work on this flash drive about half the time. The manual doesn't say anything about this, but it looks like the device will eventually block all further attempts if after some time (minutes?) it hasn't verified your fingerprint. At this point I unmounted the device and then plugged it back into the USB port to try again. In the end, I usually managed to recognize one of my fingers, but when it doesn't, I can fall back on the admin password. In some cases one of my computers just didn't recognize this device when I plugged it into USB. Harbor. In this case I just turned off the device and tried again. I've also seen cases where the machine recognized the flash drive, but spontaneously stopped recognizing it after a few minutes. As I said, this flash drive is unstable. Also, I tried to unlock the flash drive with an unregistered finger, but I didn't succeed, which of course is a good thing. this flash drive on my laptop via a USB 3.0 port. It was about the same in the public and encrypted sectors: 16.8 megabytes per second, which seems decent.
