This review is for the HiLetgo PN532 RFID module. The kit includes 2 RFID cards (1 card and 1 fob) and the module itself. The module claims to support 3 types of connections (HSV, I2C and SPI). In most cases I would choose I2C as it has fewer wires to connect. However, this is not the case. The first reason was that to use I2C you need to connect the RST0 and IRQ pins (based on the Adafruit library). Even though the library can support both I2C and SPI, I haven't found that the initialization procedure can pass any I2C address. I might be missing something. Anyway, with all of that in mind, I used SPI as the wiring between the Arduino and the board, which works really well. Another nice thing about SPI is that the library supports SW SPI so I can select any digital pins I want. I used pins 2 and 5 as shown in the example sketch. For testing I used an Arduino UNO and opened one of the example sketches provided by Adafruit. I had no trouble reading the card. I'm happy with the result. I would recommend this board to anyone who wants to learn more about the 13.56MHz RFID type and using an Arduino to control it.
