If connecting 4 or more 8 ohm speakers, connect groups of 2 speakers in series to get nominal 16 ohms and one of these groups per channel output (left/right) for a better fit for your amplifier. Two groups connected in this way will look like 8 ohms to your amplifier. Remember that speakers connected in series add impedance to each speaker. Connecting loudspeakers in parallel divides the load impedance by the number of loudspeakers. I wouldn't recommend any of this for a transformer output amp. How do you know if you have a transformer output? If you risk lifting it with a hernia, it may contain audio transformers.
