My husband and I enjoy bird watching, especially in the winter we visit bald eagles. In addition to my trusty Canon 55-250mm, I had a cheap 500mm lens with a fixed manual focus, but I wanted something more responsive. After reading countless reviews I decided to purchase this lens and I was not disappointed. We went to the nearest nature reserve as soon as we received the lens and I could immediately tell the difference between the lenses. Using a tripod allowed me to get some clear shots of the birds from a much further distance than I would otherwise. I also tried some handheld shots just to see what happens. As expected they were good but not super spicy. For a lens of this size you definitely have to use a tripod. A monopod is useful, but a tripod and remote shutter will give the best results. I can't comment on the usefulness of the USB dock as I haven't experimented with it yet. performance of this lens and related accessories.
