This converter is very efficient and flexible. I use it with 12V GelCell batteries and motorcycle batteries to provide a fully isolated power supply when I need clean power in a remote location. This is particularly useful when working with a small VHF transmitter that is prone to DC line interference. One of the downsides of this power supply is that if the 12V input power wires are swapped around, there is no protection and there is no electrolytic capacitor .These leads burn out easily (very noisy and smelly!) As the unit comes with a plug that plugs into the cigarette lighter socket this is not a problem if this position has to be considered so be careful when using the input change to introduce a different set of plugs, pay attention to the correct one polarity and. All in all a very impressive device with a good output current and voltage range (3, 4.5, 6, 7.5, 9 and 12 volts). The six adapters that come with the device have a two-pronged connector that allows you to change the polarity of the tip by inserting it one way or the other. It appears to be a generic type of adapter and I have several that I have received with other power converters over the years. Good design!
