I read many reviews of many grease guns and decided on this grease gun. It's solidly made and doesn't look cheap at all. To avoid the problems that many others have, here's what I did as soon as I got it: 1). Fittings checked for tightness. All have been tightened slightly more than hand tightened by the manufacturer. Not surprisingly, many of these weapons are being phased out everywhere. I put teflon tape on each thread and added just a little pipe sealant (10,000 psi liquid); Wipe off excess to avoid contaminating the lubricant. The connection is probably not needed for this, but I use it for any gas or liquid pressure fittings. It's cool.2). Unscrew the tip and apply Teflon tape and joint sealant; so it rotates easily when I need it. I also left it with the tip / unscrewed 1 turn; That way I could easily unscrew it if it got stuck on the grease nipple.3). Before adding grease to the gun, check the tip connector on the grease port and adjust the tip so that it doesn't just pop out, but breaks off easily with a slight wobble. About 1 turn or so.4). gun loaded. Pull back the handle, insert the grease cartridge, pull the tab and remove the cap, screw in the top (leave loose a half turn to let air out), release the bottom handle while Keep your finger on the outlet, and then screw the top in tight enough to close, but not too tight to damage the o-ring. The handle/spring may not be fully seated. This is normal and to be expected. Ignore this for now. Once you've pumped out some lube, you can delay the air delivery and skip the rest of the ride. The gun worked fine on the 1st grease fitting (40 pulls on the new spindle bearing before grease started leaking) but it was binding. when you are done with the 2nd grease nipple. I twisted the whole gun 1 turn to loosen the tip (since I had already loosened it first) and it immediately came out of the grease fitting. Other tips: 5.) Don't worry if the guns stop pumping lube; just let the air out. This happened with my second oiler. I held the air duct for just a few seconds and let the lube force the air out. Some grease began to leak out of the vent. This was expected and indicates that all air has been removed. 6.) If the gun gets stuck in the grease fitting, don't panic and start breaking out hammers and crowbars. Take a pair of pliers or a vise to loosen the tip a few turns and it will come loose. If you followed my previous advice, it should already be free. That's all. I hope this helps anyone deciding to get a grease gun or having trouble. A little patience and common sense will help. Of course, I've only used this gun once and can't comment on its durability, but it worked great. I will update if more problems arise. I still have to lubricate some fittings before I finish this project.
