In short: Pros Great video performance as promised Pretty good photos Sure looks sexy Wide touchscreen looks good and works well Cons: Very short battery life Dock only connection (Nr direct connect) USB/HDMI) Depends on dockTouch screen isn't bad, actually quite good but could be better No smile shutter (I don't care but you could) For some reason images are blurry at times, poor low light performance Some thoughts: HD recording is great, but I think if you're into 100% HD recording then the Kodak zi8 would be a good replacement in this price range, a mini camcorder that can record video in FULL 1080P HD that can also take pictures in 5 megapixels. While the video quality on this camera is probably not as good as the Kodak zi8, it strikes the best balance between still photography and HD capture for me. If you record long videos I would go for the Kodak zi8, I think it has many hours of recording time which is less than 1 hour. Cons: This camera has really bad battery life, you probably need to be very careful to turn it off when not in active use. I also don't like the fact that it relies so much on an included dock that connects to your computer via USB. I want the camera to AT LEAST charge the camera when it was connected to the computer, but if you plug it in and accidentally leave it there for an hour, you have to charge it again for 3 hours. It also has poor video and image processing in low light, making images look grainy and not true to color tone. Bottom line: In general I think people are being too harsh on this camera because it was around $400 when it first came out and I think people have forgotten that it's priced at around $250 now has fallen. It really isn't as bad a camera as some reviewers make it out to be. It's a great camera, but performance can be unstable. So if you want a more reliable camera with consistent performance check out the Sony W290, if you want something for HD shooting get a Kodak zi8, if you find common ground and donate sometimes inconsistent low-light performance, get one Get this camera or just drop another 100 for a t900 or t9 and most flaws will be fixed.
