So I bought two of these. Secondly, after being so impressed with the first one, I wanted another one for another room. The build quality is fantastic, you can actually bend your arm forward and not feel like it's about to tip over when your expensive electronic device is strapped for the ride. However, the basis for this is quite heavy. Don't send this to your dear relative in a nursing home and don't expect it to come out of the box. The device slides in and out of the mount really easily and holds it really tight for a secure and firm grip no matter how far you bend your neck outside of the wide and heavy base. Now for the "works great, BUT": the second device can't keep up and I put the viewing angle down with the iPad in a protective cover. With the case on, the iPad weighed just over two pounds. Within minutes, the "head" of the stand holding the iPad was bending down like that of a sad person. Now it fits enough vertically that it's not that big of a deal, but I had to buckle up the tie-rod mounting head to maintain the desired seat angle. However, after a week the mount tightened and holding the iPad at the desired angle was no longer a problem. Especially if it took you several attempts to insert the socket into the tripod ball, which might weaken the gripping power of the plastic socket holding the metal tripod ball, try this solution if you come across it. In general, it's worth it.
