We got this light on the basis of the description and a review that indicated it was good for handwork (specifically mentioning crochet). i'm pretty sure that reviewer never did crochet! First of all, the design of this light provides only provides two axes of rotation, not three, like most craft lights. It was completely impossible to use it in the configuration of our room. But more important, the high magnification of the lens places the focal point so close to the lens that it is IMPOSSIBLE TO USE TOOLS OF ANY SORT! Crochet, knitting, bead work, cross stich--I don't care what you're talking about, NONE of those could reasonably be done using this lamp. There just isn't room. Plus the small size of the lens makes it hard to view a large enough area of the work. We're returning the lamp.
