I got this to make the seat on my 2016 Road Glide Ultra softer and more comfortable. I got a new seat cover and decided that when installing the seat cover I also wanted to try installing a gel pad since I had heard so many good things about this mod. This gel pad is about 3/4 inch thick, it's not memory foam, it's really sticky but manageable, I've never worked with this stuff myself. I'm not an upholstery pro and have never worked with stuff like this before. So I got into this seat mod with the help of a few YouTube videos. Well, I found that the standard Ultra seat has a 3/4 inch thick layer of foam on top of another layer of foam. All I had to do was measure the size I needed to cut and the depth was perfect (actually the gel pad stuck out about 1/8 inch) and sticky enough that I didn't have to use glue to fix it to keep in place. For my mod I also removed the 3/4 inch foam layer from the back to push back a bit and it's GREAT. I put on the seat cover and let me tell you the difference is AMAZING. on a 300 mile trip and was so comfortable. We had a couple of stops but with that gel in my seat I could go on. Before installing I always waited to make a stop because the standard installation was so uncomfortable this gel pad healed everything. Also with the layer removed from the back take me a little back so I believe that helped too hat.I would recommend this gel pad to anyone looking to modify their seats, I have no regrets about it. As I said, the installation was pretty easy for a DIYer. I would love to take a picture of the setup but I forgot to do all this but believe me it's easy, check out the youtube video for the topic. I didn't do any refinishing with sandpaper or electric knives, just cut a hole, poured in the gel and re-upholstered the seat. I live in Phx AZ and as of this writing it's not hot enough here in the winter to see if there will be any heat issues but I doubt they will. Now the seat is much more comfortable, in the future I will buy another part to install on the passenger seat for my wife, she will love me for it for a long time. Take care brother, drive safe.
