The plate provides a slippery surface for my fifth wheel so I can walk on it without binding. No more greasing the plate. The grease plate is mounted on the fifth wheel pivot and stays there while I hitch the truck. However, I have found that after you've pulled the fifth wheel a few miles and unhooked the truck, the grease plate falls off the pin. When I try to push the plate back against the pin, it won't hold. As if the central hole is stretched during movement. When I return the plate the next day (or several days depending on where we are) the hole returns to its normal size and the plate stays on the pin while I hitch the truck to the fifth wheel. I don't know if this is normal for drawbars, but when it first happened I was surprised. All in all it was a good buy.
