Review on Alpinestars Bionic Freeride Shorts: Enhanced Protection and Mobility for Ultimate Performance by Vincent Bain

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Literally saved my ass.

It must have been fate. I received them and on my next ride a small tree fell in front of me and landed on the railing. It towered across the street. I didn't even have enough time to take a break and it left me exhausted. Punch me straight in the chest My bike kept moving. I broke through this thing with my body. First I landed squarely on my left knee, then slid down and touched my hip, shoulder, elbow, and my head bobbed a few times. I wore these shorts along with her knee pads and shin pads, jacket, helmet and gloves. I ended up with a few small bruises as the edges of the pads dug in from the pressure and a small cut on my ankle (I'm mad about that because I wasn't wearing an ankle brace). It's a small cut and you can see it in my photo. The bike went forward and just slumped onto the railing in front. After checking myself, I just sat down and drove home. Without this material, I would surely have been in intensive care or died from a blow to the head. The crazy thing is that the pads are still completely intact apart from a few scratches on the plastic.

Pros
  • Excellent price
Cons
  • Packaging is ugly
