I have mounted it on bars and push-up bars for extra support. The included foam grips were too soft so I ripped them off. The bare metal traction underneath was an improvement, but there was still some slip and pinch. Then I put this grip tape on and it's perfect - now that my grip is absolutely tight I can feel muscles that I didn't feel before the push-pull and pull-up. doesn't stick to itself. And use a utility knife or other disposable blade to cut, as the sand will dull your scissors very quickly.
