The straps are adjustable. I'm 6ft 180lbs and this fits me perfectly. My son who is 9 years old tried it and it fits him perfectly. The two lower straps are easy to adjust to fit your child. I spend 2 hours in the pool to see if it needs water but it didn't. The vest came out as dry as possible. Also, I went to the lake on the raft and my child was well dressed the whole time (3 hours) and never once complained about any discomfort in the vest. I decided to buy 3 more for the rest of the family.
