My husband and I put this together in about 2-3 hours. It's pretty lightweight and I thought the assembly was easy and simple. I did not add the roof as mine sits under a covered patio so I purchased some of the wire mesh and tacked it down. We also added 2×4's to the base to add some height for our catdoor to pass under the shelf. I probably will eventually treat the wood with a sealer so that it lasts longer. Overall I'm really happy with it. We've built 2 previous catios ourselves and the time and effort that goes into purchasing all the supplies, working out the layout, and then fixing mistakes made me want to purchase something more pre-made. This checked all the boxes. The only thing I wish were different are the shelves, I'll probably change the layout, maybe add more or double a couple of them up side by side. They are pretty short and my cats like to spread out.
