I am using this with a 1TB Samsung SSD connected to my Linksys router. I opened the device upon receipt, installed the SSD and connected it to my router. I logged into my router and turned on the USB storage port. I also set security to require UN and PW to connect to a drive on the network. Then I connected to the network drive in Windows according to the router's instructions. I then mapped the drive in Windows and selected the option to connect automatically at logon. I have specific files on this drive that my spouse and I need to access from our respective computers. I also use ACRONIS True Image to back up this network drive to an additional hard drive on my desktop. This is a temporary workaround until I can afford a Synology NAS along with hard drives to have a proper NAS. IMPORTANT. Be sure to initialize and format your drive if it's new and has never been used, formatted, or initialized. Also remember to remove the plastic wrapping from the case. This makes opening the case easier. So far, so good. For now I would recommend this article for people with my use case.
