I installed two of these for some wild siblings and their mum. They are all anchored and need shelter from the wet and relatively mild winters of our Pacific Northwest. A good size for two cats and the mat provides ample warmth. You don't notice it at first, but it warms up when put under load. The exterior and base are a bit flimsy and light, so I installed them over the styrofoam shipping containers from the wet base. I covered them with waterproof padding for insulation and then added a layer of lightweight waterproof foam sleeping bag mats to keep everything dry and warm. The cats jumped right in and seem to love it. I left the plastic door in front until they get used to their new home and then I'll try to add it when the temperature gets colder. I added it to the "black" door to keep out the rain but cut out the strips to make them easier to go through. In general, nice little houses and in winter it will definitely be warm and dry here. However, I am not sure if they are warm enough in harsher winter climates and should probably be brought indoors. Store raised above cement floor or damp ground to avoid heat loss.
