Improved RCA Antenna Rotator Design

The RCA Antenna Rotator is a significant improvement over the previous design sold under the Channel Master brand. It is made in China, not Canada as stated in the previous review. In my case it rotates a 12ft high gain TV antenna with no problem. My previous Channel Master unit failed after a few years. Design improvements include: - There is now an electrical limit switch that shuts off the motor current when it reaches the end of the stroke. This always happens when the initialization mode is activated. The Channel Master design used a mechanical limiter that stopped the rotation of the shaft, when power was applied to the motor. This can result in engine failure, or in my case, gear seizure at the end of the rotation stroke. - The electric motor is now sealed and not the open frame motor used in the Channel Master design. This should better protect the motor from moisture - The thrust bearing around which the antenna rotates is of a stronger rating - The sealing at the top of the rotating section is better and should help prevent moisture from entering the thrust bearing - The controller Die Box is bigger and heavier, and the buttons can be pressed without holding the device with the other hand. The AC power supply is now installed in the control box. I don't know if these improvements result in a longer lifespan, but from a technical point of view this is definitely the best design. If you want a better quality antenna rotator, buy the Hy-Gain AR-40, but it costs about three times as much.
