Review on Koss KEB15I In Ear Headphone Red by Jill Bennett

These headphones were a complete surprise. For $10, they produce some of the most articulate, clean, and loudest subwoofers I've heard for under $200. I am not joking. The KEB15 really shines at bass response below 80Hz and is perfect for trance, dubstep and pop music. They also have a strong midrange that isn't smudged at all by the great bass presence. In addition, they have crisp 3D images and a wide soundstage, giving you a great sense of place and energy in the ensemble of what you're hearing. Of course they are not perfect. The main problem is that the hints included are crap, at least to me. They didn't fit well and didn't miss KEB15. I put some black double flange Meelectronics on it and everything changed. Also, while the treble response has a nice shimmer, it does sound a bit dull and loud at times - they're definitely not for the treble. That being said, I'm still very surprised there's any decent highs at all, considering how many times I've been frustrated with bass-tuned headphones that forget there's music information above 8kHz. There's also some general frequency dips, particularly in the upper-mids, which contribute to the overall raw sound signature, but for $10 it's ridiculous to expect anything else. A complete bomb for $10. I would have easily paid $50 for it if I had heard them before seeing their price. Koss' lifetime warranty is also the real deal (not that it really matters for a $10 IEM), the bottom line of which is a lot better than the excuses you often get from other "lifetime warranty" companies . If you're a music lover with a pair of $100-$200 headphones and looking for something new like I always do, please do yourself a favor and get them. That's probably the best $10 you'll spend on a hobby all year.
